Salsa Across Borders:
A Celebration of Culture, Connection, and Community
Presented by The Assembly Room & The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
The Rock Hall is partnering with The Assembly Room once again to host Salsa Across Borders, a salsa dancing festival and competition, presented by the John P. Murphy Foundation.
At The Assembly Room, we believe in the power of storytelling, shared history, and creative experiences to bridge divides and build a more connected world. Salsa Across Borders is more than a festival—it is a cultural collaboration designed to break down the invisible barriers that too often separate our communities. Through music, dance, history, and joy, this event invites us to recognize how deeply our cultures are interwoven, and to celebrate the richness that emerges when we move together.
Born from the desire to bridge the Black and Brown communities of Cleveland and beyond, Salsa Across Borders brings to the forefront the powerful influence of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and their undeniable imprint on global music and dance. It is an invitation to explore our shared roots, honor our differences, and most importantly, connect.
Held at the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, this day-long, family-friendly experience features:
-
Free dance workshops for all levels
-
Live performances by renowned artists and cultural groups
-
A high-energy salsa dance competition with prizes, trophies, and a chance to perform at the Rock Hall’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration
-
Vendor and resource village spotlighting community organizations and local businesses
-
Hands-on activities for all ages, including instrument making, food history, and art
-
Social dancing and DJ sets to close the evening with movement and joy
The Assembly Room is proud to bring people together through events that center culture and community. Our mission is to make spaces where the arts are not just entertainment, but a force for transformation. Salsa Across Borders is one of those spaces.
Join us this year for another day of rhythm, connection, and cultural pride. Let’s dance past our divisions—and into a future built on shared humanity.
This is a free community event that takes place outside on the Rock Hall’s Plaza. Event RSVP is for the outdoor event only, separate admission required for the Museum. Museum admission is always free for Members and City of Cleveland residents through the CLE VIP program.
