Aria Johnson

Aria Johnson is a community builder, cultural strategist, and advocate for equitable growth whose work lives at the intersection of the arts, the built environment, and public life. As co-founder of The Assembly Room, she designs experiences that bring people together across cultures, sectors, and lived experiences, creating spaces where connection becomes the foundation for opportunity. Aria’s commitment to community is deeply rooted and long-standing. For more than seven years, she has been actively involved in the 11th Congressional District Community Caucus Labor Day Parade and Festival, serving as Parade Chair for the past three years. In this role, she has helped shape one of the region’s most celebrated community traditions, centering culture, representation, and collective pride. Her work is grounded in place and personal history. A proud product of Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood, Aria remains actively engaged in the Morganic Community Garden, contributing to efforts that promote sustainability, access, and neighborhood connection. She previously served as Vice Chair of the DEI Coalition in Fairview Park, where she helped guide initiatives focused on inclusion and equitable community practices. Aria is deeply invested in the next generation. She has served as a lead mentor with ACE Cleveland, introducing students to career pathways in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering, and as a lead mentor with the Rosie’s Girls program at Friendly Inn Settlement, empowering young girls through hands-on learning and confidence-building experiences. Professionally, Aria serves as Director of Construction Initiatives at Greater Cleveland Partnership, where she leads efforts to grow the capacity of minority-owned construction firms. While her professional work advances economic opportunity, her broader mission is rooted in ensuring that growth reaches and reflects the communities it is meant to serve. With academic foundations in Arts and New Media, a Master’s in Business, and a Master’s in Urban Studies, Aria brings both creative vision and strategic insight to her work. She is a frequent speaker on topics including equitable economic development, community-centered design, and the role of art as a bridge, using storytelling and shared experience to break down barriers and build pathways forward. At her core, Aria believes that thriving communities are not built in isolation, they are cultivated through intention, collaboration, and a deep commitment to lifting one another. Through every program, partnership, and public space she helps shape, she is working to ensure that opportunity is not just created, but shared.
